One day God tested Abraham’s love. He said, “Abraham, I want you to give your only son to me. I want you to sacrifice Isaac on an altar.” This was very difficult for Abraham, since he loved Isaac very much. But Abraham trusted God. Early the next morning, Abraham took Isaac to a mountain and built an altar. “Father, where is the lamb for the sacrifice?” Isaac asked. “God will provide!” answered Abraham. Then Abraham laid his son on the altar. Suddenly, an angel of God shouted, “Abraham! Abraham! Do not hurt the boy. Since you have obeyed the Lord God, I now know that your love for God is great!” Then Abraham saw a ram caught by his horns in the bushes. Abraham sacrificed the ram that God had provided instead of his only son. Abraham named that place “The Lord will provide.” The Lord God blessed Abraham with a great reward because he trusted Him. Did Abraham trust God? What did Abraham offer to God at the end?

༄༅།། ཨབ་རམ་གྱིས་བླ་ན་མེད་པའི་དཀོན་མཆོག་ལ་བསྙེན་བཀུར་ཞུ་བཞིན་ཡོད་ཅིང༌། ཁོའི་ཁྱིམ་མཚེས་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་ཀྱང་ལྷ་རྫུན་མ་ལ་བསྙེན་བཀུར་བྱེད་བཞིན་ཡོད། དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་ཨབ་རམ་ལ། ཁྱོད་ས་ཆ་འདི་དང་ཁ་བྲལ་ཏེ་ས་གནས་གསར་པ་ཞིག་ཏུ་སོང་ཞིག ངས་ཁྱོད་ལ་བྱིན་རླབས་སྦྱིན་ནོ་ཞེས་གསུངས་པ་དང༌། ཨབ་རམ་གྱིས་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་བཀའ་བཞིན་བསྒྲུབས། དེ་ནས་ཨབ་རམ་གྱིས་རང་ཉིད་ཀྱི་ལམ་ཆས་བསྡུ་གསོག་བརྒྱབ་སྟེ་ཁ་བྲལ། དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་ཨབ་རམ་ལ་གསལ་པོར་མངོན་ཏེ། ཁྱོད་ཀྱི་མཐོང་ལམ་དུ་གྱུར་བའི་ས་གཞི་ཚང་མ་ངས་ཁྱོད་ཀྱི་ཁྱིམ་མི་ལ་སྦྱིན་ནོ་ཞེས་གསུངས་པས། ཨབ་རམ་གྱིས་དཀོན་མཆོག་ལ་ཐུགས་རྗེ་ཆེ་ཞེས་ཞུས། ཉིན་ཞིག་གི་དགོང་མོར་ཨབ་རམ་གྱི་འཆར་སྣང་དུ་དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་ཁོ་ལ། ཁྱོད་ཀྱིས་ནམ་མཁའི་སྐར་མ་བགྲང་ནུས་སམ། ངས་ཁྱོད་ལ་བགྲང་མི་ཐུབ་པའི་བུ་རྒྱུད་མང་པོ་སྦྱིན་ཆོག་ཅེས་གསུངས་པ་ཐོས། དེ་རྗེས་དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་ཨབ་རམ་གྱི་མིང་དེ་ཨབ་ར་ཧམ་ཞེས་བསྒྱུར། དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་ཡང༌། ཁྱོད་རང་མི་མང་པོའི་ཡབ་བྱེད་དགོས་ཞེས་གསུངས་སོ། སྐབས་དེར་ཨབ་ར་ཧམ་དགུང་ལོ་དགུ་བཅུ་གོ་དགུ་ཡིན་པ་རེད། དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་ཁྱོད་ཀྱི་ཆུང་མ་སཱ་ར་ལ་བུ་ཞིག་སྐྱེ་རྒྱུ་རེད་ཅེས་གསུངས་པ་དང༌། ཨབ་ར་ཧམ་གྱིས། སཱ་ར་དང་ང་གཉིས་རྒན་འཁོགས་ཆགས་ཟིན་པས། ཕྲུ་གུ་སྐྱེ་མི་ཐུབ་ཅེས་ཞུས་པས། དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས། ངས་སྒྲུབ་མི་ཐུབ་པའི་བྱ་བ་ཅི་ཞིག་ཡོད་ཅེས་གསུངས། སཱ་ར་དང་ཨབ་ར་ཧམ་གཉིས་ལ་དངོས་སུ་བུ་ཞིག་བཙས། མིང་ལ་ཨི་སཱག་ཅེས་བཏགས། དེའི་ནང་དོན་ནི་དགོད་པའི་དོན་ཡིན་ནོ།། ༡ སུས་ཨབ་རམ་ས་གནས་གསར་པ་ཞིག་ཏུ་སོང་ཞེས་བཀའ་གནང་བ་རེད། ༢ ཨབ་ར་ཧམ་གྱིས་དཀོན་མཆོག་ལ་དགའ་འམ་མི་དགའ།
God’s Promise to Abraham

Abram worshipped the Most High God. His neighbours prayed to false gods. God told Abram, “Leave this country. Go to a new land, and I will bless you.” Abram obeyed God. Abram packed all his things and moved. Then God appeared to Abram and said, “I will give all the land you see to you and your family.” Abram thanked God. One night God spoke to Abram in a vision. “Can you count all the stars in the night sky? I will bless you with as many children as there are stars, you will not be able to count them.” Later God changed Abram’s name to Abraham. Again, God said, “You will be the father of many.” At that time Abraham was ninety-nine years old. God said, “Your wife, Sarah, will give birth to a son.” Abraham said, “Sarah and I are too old, we are not able to have children.” “Is anything too hard for the Lord?” said God. Then, just as God had promised, Sarah and Abraham had a son. His name was Isaac, which means “laughter”. Who told Abraham to go to a new place? Did Abraham love God?
God’s Promise to Abraham

Soon the earth was full of people again. Everyone used the same language to talk. The people said, “Let’s build a city with a tall tower to show how wonderful we are.” These proud people thought they were greater than God. God was not happy. So He confused their language. The people stopped building the tower and scattered to every land. And the city was named Babel, which means “confusion.” From then on, people lived in different lands, each group speaking their own language. Why was God not happy with the people who built the Tower of Babel? Why did God confuse their language?

༄༅།། སྐབས་དེར་ས་གཞི་གང་སར་མི་ངན་རུལ་ཅན་གྱིས་ཁེངས་ཤིང༌། བླ་ན་མེད་པའི་དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་མིའི་རིགས་བཟོས་པའི་འགྱོད་སེམས་ཁེངས། ཁོང་གིས་ས་གཞི་འདིའི་ཐོག་ཏུ་ཡོད་ཚད་རྩ་མེད་བཏང་སྟེ་བསྐྱར་དུ་སྐྲུན་རྒྱུའི་དགོངས་པ་མཛད། འོན་ཀྱང་དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་སྐབས་དེར་ཀུན་སྤྱོད་དྲང་བདེན་གྱི་མི་ཞིག་ཡོད་པ་གཟིགས་ཤིང༌། དེའི་མིང་ལ་ནོ་ཨ་བཏགས། དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་ནོ་ཨ་ལ། ངས་ཆུ་ལོག་བཏང་ནས་ས་གཞི་སྣུབ་ཏུ་འཇུག་རྒྱུ་ཡིན། གལ་སྲིད་ཁྱོད་ཀྱིས་གྲུ་ཆེན་པོ་ཞིག་བཟོས་ན་སྲོག་སྐྱོན་ལས་ཐར་ཞེས་གསུངས། ནོ་ཨ་ཡིས་དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་གསུངས་པ་ཇི་བཞིན་སྒྲུབ་ཅིང་རྒྱ་ཆེ་བའི་གྲུ་ཞིག་བཟོས་པ་དང༌། ཁོའི་ཁྱིམ་མི་དང་ཅ་དངོས། སྲོག་ཆགས་མང་པོ་བདེ་འཇགས་ངང་གྲུ་དེའི་ནང་དུ་བསྡད། ནོ་ཨ་ཡིས་སེང་གེ་དང༌། གླང་པོ་ཆེ། སྤྲེའུ། དོམ་སོགས་རིགས་མི་འདྲ་བའི་སྲོག་ཆགས་རྣམས་ཆ་ཆ་བྱས་ཏེ་གྲུ་གཟིངས་ཐོག་ཏུ་བསྐྱལ། མཇུག་ཏུ་དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་གྲུ་གཟིངས་ཀྱི་སྒོ་དམ་པོར་བརྒྱབ། དེ་ནས་ཐོག་བརྒྱབ་པ་དང་འབྲུག་སྒྲ་གྲགས་ཤིང་དྲག་ཆར་བབས། ཉིན་མཚན་བཞི་བཅུ་ཧྲིལ་པོར་དྲག་ཆར་བབས་པ་དང༌། ཆུ་ལོག་རྒྱས་ནས་རི་བོའི་རྩེ་མོ་ཡང་བསྣུབས་པར་གྱུར། མཇུག་ཏུ་དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་རླུང་ཆེན་པོ་ཞིག་བརྒྱབ་ནས་ས་གཞི་སྐམ་དུ་བཅུག གྲུ་གཟིངས་ཆེན་པོ་སྐམ་སའི་ཐོག་ལ་ལུས། ནོ་ཨ་ཡིས་གྲུ་གཟིངས་ཐོག་ནས་ཕུག་རོན་གཅིག་མངགས་པ་དང༌། ཕུག་རོན་གྱིས་སྐྱུ་རུ་ཤིང་གི་ལོ་མ་ཞིག་ཁུར་ནས་ཚུར་སླེབས་པས། ནོ་ཨ་ཡིས་ས་ངོས་ཕལ་ཆེར་སྐམ་ཚར་བར་སྙམ། ནོ་ཨ་གྲུ་གཟིངས་ནས་ཁ་བྲལ་རྗེས་མཆོད་ཁྲི་ཞིག་བཞེངས་ནས་དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་ཁོའི་ཁྱིམ་མི་ཚང་མ་བསྐྱབས་པར་མཆོད་པ་བྱས། དཀོན་མཆོག་ཧ་ཅང་མཉེས་པོ་བྱུང་ཞིང༌། ཁོང་གིས་ནོ་ཨ་ལ་བདེ་བ་བསྩལ། ཡང་དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས། ངས་ད་ནས་བཟུང་ཆུ་ལོག་གིས་ས་གཞི་མི་བསྣུབ། ནམ་མཁའི་འཇའ་ཚོན་དེ་ངས་ཁྱོད་ལ་བཞག་པའི་དམ་བཅའ་ཡིན་ཞེས་གསུངས་སོ།། ༡ ནོ་ཨ་ཡིས་གྲུ་ཆེན་པོ་བཟོས་དོན་ཅི་ཡིན། ༢ དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་ནོ་ཨ་དང་ཁོའི་ཁྱིམ་མི་རྣམས་སྲོག་བསྐྱབས་དགོས་དོན་ཅི་ཡིན།
Noah and the Big Flood

The earth was crowded with wicked people. The Most High God was sorry that He made humankind. He said, “I will destroy everything on earth and start again!” But God saw one good man who tried to do right. The man’s name was Noah. God told Noah, “I will drown the earth in a flood of water. You will be saved, if you build a big boat.” Noah did everything God said. He built a boat tall and wide. His family and many animals would hide safely inside. Noah put two of every kind of animal on the boat – lions, elephants, monkeys, and bears; every animal pair marched onto the boat. When it was all ready, God sealed the door shut. Thunder and lightning crashed. Rain poured from the sky. The storm lasted for forty days and forty nights. The water rose high above the mountain peaks, and everything was destroyed. Finally, God sent a wind to dry the earth and the boat touched solid ground. Then Noah sent a dove from the boat. The dove returned with an olive leaf in his beak, then Noah knew the ground was almost dry. When Noah left the boat, he built an altar. He thanked God for saving his family. God was very pleased. He blessed Noah. God said, “I will never again destroy the earth with a flood. A rainbow in the sky will be the sign of my promise to you.” Why did Noah build the ark? Why did God save Noah and his family?

༄༅།། ཨ་དམ་དང་ཧ་ཝཱ་གཉིས་ལ་ཕྲུ་གུ་མང་པོ་སྐྱེས་ཤིང༌། བུ་ཆེ་བ་ལ་ཀ་ཡན་ཟེར་བ་དང༌། འབྲིང་བ་ལ་ཧ་པེལ་ཞེས་འབོད། ཀ་ཡན་ནི་ཞིང་པ་ཞིག་ཡིན་པ་དང༌། ཧ་པེལ་ནི་ལུག་རྫི་ཞིག་ཡིན། ཉིན་ཞིག་ལ་ཀ་ཡན་དང་ཧ་པེལ་གཉིས་མཉམ་དུ་བླ་ན་མེད་པའི་དཀོན་མཆོག་ལ་རང་རང་གི་འབུལ་རྟེན་གྱིས་མཆོད་པ་ཕུལ། ཧ་པེལ་གྱི་མཆོད་རྫས་ཡག་པོ་ཡོད་ཅིང༌། ཀ་ཡན་གྱི་མཆོད་རྫས་ལ་ལྷག་བསམ་མེད་པས། ཀ་ཡན་གྱི་མཆོད་རྫས་ལ་དཀོན་མཆོག་མ་མགུ། དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་མཆོད་རྫས་མ་བཞེས་པར་བརྟེན་ཀ་ཡན་ཁོང་ཁྲོ་ཆེན་པོ་ལངས་ཤིང༌། ཁོས་ཧ་པེལ་གསོད་རྩིས་བྱས། དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས། ཁྱོད་ཀྱི་སེམས་ཁོང་ཁྲོས་ཁེངས་འདུག གལ་སྲིད་ཁྱོད་ཀྱིས་ཡག་པོ་བྱས་ན་ངས་ཁྱོད་ངོས་ལེན་བྱེད་ཅེས་གསུངས། འོན་ཀྱང་ཀ་ཡན་གྱིས་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་བཀའ་ལ་མ་ཉན་པར་ཧ་པེལ་ལ་རྡུང་རྡེག་བཏང་ནས་བསད། དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་ཁྱོད་ཀྱི་གཅུང་པོ་གང་ན་ཡོད་ཅེས་འདྲི་སྐབས། ཀ་ཡན་གྱིས་སྐད་ཤུགས་ཆེན་པོས། ངས་ཧ་མི་གོ ཁོར་ལྟ་རྟོག་བྱེད་པའི་ལས་འགན་ང་ལ་ཡོད་དམ་ཞེས་སྨྲས། དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས། ཁྱོད་ཀྱིས་རང་ཉིད་ཀྱི་གཅུང་པོ་ལ་ལས་ཅི་ཞིག་བྱས་ཡོད་པ་ངས་ཤེས། ཁྱོད་ཀྱིས་གདུག་རྩུབ་ཆེ་བའི་བྱེད་སྟངས་ལ་ངེས་པར་དུ་ཆད་པ་ཕོག་ཡོང་ཞེས་གསུངས། ཡང་དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་ཁོ་ལ། ཀ་ཡན། ཁྱོད་ཀྱི་སེམས་ངན་རྩ་ཆེ་བས། ཁྱོད་ངེས་པར་དུ་ང་དང་ཁ་བྲལ་དགོས་ཞེས་གསུངས། དེ་ནས་ཀ་ཡན་གང་སར་འཁྱམ་དགོས་བྱུང་བ་དང༌། དཀོན་མཆོག་ཁོ་དང་མཉམ་དུ་མ་གནས་སོ།། ༡ ཀ་ཡན་གྱིས་ཅིའི་ཕྱིར་དུ་ཧ་པེལ་བསད་པ་རེད། ༢ ཀ་ཡན་ཅིའི་ཕྱིར་དུ་དཀོན་མཆོག་དང་ཁ་བྲལ་དགོས་བྱུང༌།
Cain and Abel

Adam and Eve had many children. Their oldest son was called Cain and the second was called Abel. Cain was a farmer and Abel was a shepherd. One day Cain and Abel each brought offerings to the Most High God. Abel’s offering was good but Cain’s was not given with pure intentions and God was not pleased with it. Cain was angry that God did not accept his offering. He wanted to kill Abel. “Your heart is angry,” God said. “If you do what is right I will accept you.” But Cain did no obey God. Cain hit Abel and killed him. “Where is your brother?” God asked. Cain answered, “I don’t know. Is it my job to take care of him?” God said, “I know what you did to your brother. You will surely be punished for the terrible way you treated him.” God told Cain, “Because your heart is evil, you cannot stay in my presence.” So Cain roamed the earth without God. Why did Cain kill Abel? Why did Cain have to leave God’s presence?

༄༅།། ཨ་དམ་དང་ཧ་ཝཱ་གཉིས་མཛེས་སྡུག་ལྡན་པའི་ལྡུམ་ར་དེའི་ནང་དགའ་མགུར་གྱི་འཚོ་བ་རོལ་ཞིང༌། ཕྱོགས་གཅིག་ནས་འཆམ་འཆམ་དུ་འགྲོ་བ་དང༌། ཕྱོགས་གཅིག་ནས་བླ་ན་མེད་པའི་དཀོན་མཆོག་དང་ཁ་བརྡ་བྱས་ཤིང༌། དཀོན་མཆོག་ནི་ཁོ་གཉིས་ཀྱི་གྲོགས་པོ་ལྟ་བུར་གྱུར། དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་ཁོ་གཉིས་ལ། ལྡུམ་རའི་ནང་གི་ཤིང་སྡོང་གཅིག་མ་གཏོགས་དེ་མིན་གྱི་ཤིང་སྡོང་གཞན་དག་གི་ཤིང་འབྲས་བཟའ་ཆོག གལ་སྲིད་ལྡུམ་རའི་དཀྱིལ་དུ་ཡོད་པའི་ཤིང་སྡོང་དེའི་ཤིང་འབྲས་བཟས་ན་ཁྱོད་གཉིས་འཆི་བར་འགྱུར་རོ་ཞེས་བཀའ་གནང༌། ཨ་དམ་དང་ཧ་ཝཱ་གཉིས་ཀྱིས་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་བཀའ་བཞིན་དུ་མཉན། དུས་དེར་སེ་ཏན་ཞེས་པའི་གདོན་འདྲེ་ཞིག་ཡོད་པ་དང༌། དེ་ནི་སྔོན་ཆད་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་ཕོ་ཉ་ཞིག་ཡིན་ལ། ཕོ་ཉ་དེས་དཀོན་མཆོག་ལ་ངོ་རྒོལ་བྱས་པས་གདོན་འདྲེ་ལ་འགྱུར། ད་ལྟར་བདུད་སེ་ཏན་གྱིས་སྦྲུལ་ཞིག་བེད་སྤྱོད་བྱས་ནས་ཧ་ཝཱ་ལ་མགོ་སྐོར་གཏོང་བར་ཡོང༌། ཁོས་ཧ་ཝཱ་ལ། དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་ཁྱོད་ལ་བྲོ་བ་ཞིམ་པོ་ཅན་གྱི་ཤིང་ཏོག་ཚང་མ་བཟའ་མི་ཆོག་ཅེས་གསུངས་མྱོང་ངམ་ཞེས་དྲིས་པ་དང༌། ཧ་ཝཱས་སྐབས་དེར་ལྡུམ་རའི་དཀྱིལ་གྱི་མཛེས་སྡུག་ལྡན་པའི་ཤིང་ཏོག་ལ་བལྟས་ནས་བསྡད། སྦྲུལ་གྱིས་ཡང༌། གལ་སྲིད་ཤིང་ཏོག་ཕྲན་བུ་ཞིག་བཟས་ན་ཁྱེད་རང་དཀོན་མཆོག་ནང་བཞིན་སྤྱང་གྲུང་འཛོམས་པ་ཞིག་ཡོང་ངེས་ཡིན་ཞིང་འཆི་བར་མི་འགྱུར་ཞེས་བཤད། ཧ་ཝཱས་བཟའ་མི་ཆོག་པའི་ཤིང་ཏོག་བཟས་པ་དང༌། ད་དུང་ཁ་ཤས་ཨ་དམ་ལ་སྤྲད་པས་ཁོས་ཀྱང་བཟས་སོ། གློ་བུར་དུ་ཁོ་གཉིས་ཀྱིས་དཀོན་མཆོག་ལྡུམ་རའི་ནང་དུ་ཕེབས་པའི་སྒྲ་ཐོས་པ་དང༌། ཁོ་གཉིས་ཀྱིས་དཀོན་མཆོག་གི་བཀའ་སློག་པས་དངངས་སྐྲག་ཆེན་པོ་སྐྱེས། དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་ཁོ་གཉིས་གཟིགས་མི་ཐུབ་པའི་ས་ཆ་མེད། ཡིན་ན་ཡང་དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་ཨ་དམ། ཨ་དམ། ཁྱོད་གང་དུ་ཡོད། ཁྱོད་གབ་དགོས་དོན་ཅི་ཡིན་ཞེས་གསུངས་སྐད་མཐོན་པོས་བོས། ཨ་དམ་གྱིས། ངས་ཁྱེད་ཀྱི་གསུངས་སྒྲ་ཐོས་སྐབས། ང་སྐྲག་སྣང་ཆེན་པོ་སྐྱེས་བྱུང་ཞེས་ལན་བཏབ། དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས། ཁྱོད་ཀྱིས་ངས་མ་བཟའ་ཞེས་པའི་ཤིང་ཏོག་དེ་བཟས་པ་ཡིན་ནམ་ཞེས་གསུངས། ཨ་དམ་གྱིས། བུད་མེད་ཀྱིས་ང་ལ་བཟའ་རུ་བཅུག་བྱུང་ཞེས་སྨྲས་པ་དང༌། ཧ་ཝཱ་ཡིས། དུག་སྦྲུལ་གྱིས་བཟས་ན་འགྲིག་གི་རེད་ཟེར་གྱི་འདུག་ཅེས་སྨྲས། དཀོན་མཆོག་ཐུགས་སེམས་ཤིན་ཏུ་སྐྱོ་ཞིང༌། ཅི་རེད་ཟེར་ན་ཁོ་གཉིས་ཀྱིས་ཁོང་གི་བཀའ་ལ་མ་མཉན་པ་རེད། དེ་ནས་དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་སྦྲུལ་ལ། སྦྲུལ་ཁྱོད་ནི་ཇི་སྲིད་བར་དུ་ལྟོ་བས་འགྲོ་དགོས་ཞེས་གསུངས། ཨ་དམ་དང་ཧ་ཝཱ་གཉིས་ལ་ཡང༌། ཁྱོད་གཉིས་ཀྱིས་སྡིག་པའི་ལས་ཀ་ལས་པའི་རྐྱེན་གྱིས། ངེས་པར་དུ་ལྡུམ་ར་འདི་ནས་ཁ་བྲལ་དགོས་ཞེས་གསུངས། དཀོན་མཆོག་གིས་སྲོག་ཆགས་ཀྱི་ལྤགས་པས་ཁོ་གཉིས་ལ་གོས་མཛད་པ་དང༌། དེ་རྗེས་དགའ་སྐྱིད་ལྡན་པའི་ལྡུམ་ར་དེ་དང་ཁ་བྲལ་དགོས་བྱུང་ངོ༌།། ༡ ཨ་དམ་དང་ཧ་ཝཱ་གཉིས་དཀོན་མཆོག་ལ་གབ་དགོས་པའི་རྒྱུ་མཚན་ཅི་ཡིན། ༢ ཨ་དམ་དང་ཧ་ཝཱ་གཉིས་ཅིའི་ཕྱིར་དུ་ལྡུམ་ར་དང་ཁ་བྲལ་དགོས་བྱུང༌།
Adam and Eve in the Garden

Adam and Eve were happy and satisfied in the beautiful garden. They walked and talked with God. He was their friend. God told them, “You may eat fruit from any tree, except one. If you eat from the tree in the middle of the garden, you will die!” Adam and Eve obeyed God. Now at that time there was an evil spirit called Satan. Previously he was one of God’s angels but he had rebelled against God and as a result had become an evil spirit. Now the devil, called Satan, came in the form of a snake and deceived Eve. “Did God really tell you not to eat any of this tasty fruit?”, the snake asked. Eve looked at the beautiful fruit on the tree in the middle of the garden. The snake went on, “Taste a little bit! It will make you wise like God, you will not die.” She ate the forbidden fruit. Then she took some to Adam, and he tasted it too. Suddenly, they heard God walking in the garden. They knew they had disobeyed God, so they were afraid. Even though God knew where they were he called out in a loud voice, “Adam, Adam, where are you? Why are you hiding?” Adam answered, “When I heard You coming I was frightened,” “Did you eat the fruit I told you not to touch?” God asked. “The woman gave it to me!” said Adam. “The snake said it was okay to eat!” said Eve. God was grieved that they had not obeyed Him. Then God cursed the snake and said, “Snake, you will crawl on your belly forever!” God told Adam and Eve, “Because you chose to not obey me, you must leave the garden immediately.” Then He made clothing from animal skins for them to wear and sent them away from the garden. Why did Adam and Eve hide from God? Why did Adam and Eve have to leave the garden of Eden?

The Creation of the World

Long ago, God created the world. The earth was dark. The sky was empty and black. But God’s Spirit looked over the world. He had a wonderful plan! When God spoke, the heavens appeared. He blessed the earth with beauty. God shaped the high mountains, He filled the lakes with cool water, He made the soft grass, fresh fruit, and the beautiful, fragrant flowers. God made the sun shine in the day and the stars shine at night. God created fish to splash and swim in the seas and birds to sing and fly through the air. Then He filled the earth with animals: Some that crawl and creep. Some that jump and leap. God said, “Let us make someone to care for this wonderful world!” God formed a man from dirt and breathed life into him. He named the man Adam. Then He also formed a woman to help Adam. Her name was Eve. God placed them in a beautiful garden called Eden. In six days, God made everything. He saw that it was all good. On the seventh day, He rested from all His work. Who created the world? What were the names of the man and the woman God created?
